Work on Commonwealth Games stadium to start next spring

Centrepiece arena due to be finished by the end of 2021

Work to redevelop Alexander Stadium ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games is set to kick off in the second quarter of next year.

Planning documents, which were submitted to Birmingham council yesterday, have revealed the main package of work on the £70m scheme is expected to wrap up by the end of 2021.
